One of the best summer jobs for teenagers for the last century is heading to your local pool, beach, or gym to become a lifeguard. There’s a bit of a mystique around lifeguards, but becoming one is a relatively simple process. All lifeguards undergo a standard lifeguard training program, typically put on by a local YMCA or other large pool. Some beaches that are more popular will also offer their own training programs for new lifeguards.

Once you decide to go through lifeguard training, most hiring pools will require you to pass two tests. The first test proves that you can even undergo training, and the second proves that you’ve passed adequately. Lifeguards literally save lives, so it’s important that, if you want a job in this position, you are able to handle the requirements of the role. Children and adults swimming at our lakes, oceans, and community pools need you to protect them. Here are some of the requirements you’ll need to pass in order to undergo lifeguard training:

First, you will need to be at least fifteen years old. If you’re working at a wave-heavy beach or more established resort, you’ll likely need to be 18. Very rarely will a lifeguard have to be 21. Next, you will need to have a filled out notice from a certified doctor stating that you have passed a physical. This is critical, as you must be in top health in order to be a quality lifeguard. This, just like for high school sports, will have to be proven every year with a new physical.

Third, you need to be able to swim. Not only must you be able to easily swim the length of the pool, but you need to do so with proper form and good leg kick. You cannot thrash around, instead you must prove that you are comfortable breathing in the water, and maintain good form throughout. Most pools will require you two swim two to four laps of the pool without stopping, using whatever swim stroke you prefer. There is often a time limit in order to pass this test.

Finally, you must be able to carry at least forty pounds while out of the water and walk the length of the pool. This is very important to that you are able to take care of swimmers who need you who might be bigger than you are.

If you can pass those tests than you are ready to head to the pool for training! After training, you typically need to pass another set of tests, both written and physical. Then you’re ready to be hired!

You don’t have to go around with green hair looking like the Hulk! There is an answer! And it requires some simple, but diligent maintenance on your part.

It is especially important to have properly balanced water when a pool is heated with a copper or copper alloyed coiled heat exchanger. These are often found in gas pool heaters, but other heaters use them also, so you should always monitor your pH diligently when you have a heated pool. Though any time the pH is too high or low it causes problems for the equipment, too low pH causes the dreaded green hair and also ugly green finger nails.

Gas pool heaters commonly use big copper coils for heat exchangers. The water passes through these heated coils and takes some of the heat back to the pool. Over time this makes your pool toasty. Gas heaters are great because they warm the pool quickly and they can work even when it is very cold outside. But all pool heater coils are very sensitive when it comes to pH.

High pH in your pool water means the water is alkaline; this encourages calcium deposits in your heater, restricting flow and function. A low pH in your pool water means the water is acidic. Acids are great solvents, for example, think of stomach acid, it breaks down our food for us. Cola soda is acidic and it can dissolve a human tooth or strip the paint off of your car. It’s also good for clearing out clogged drains!

Acidic pool water dissolves the pool fixtures, including the gas heater. When acidic water passes through the copper heating coils it takes away more than heat. The acidic water corrodes the metal, taking little bits of copper back to the pool. The small amount of copper in the water usually doesn’t show up when you look at the pool until the problem is very bad. But, these little bits of copper in the water cause fingernails to turn green and hair acquires a lovely shade of green. Blondes are the worst affected, but brunettes and darker hair changes too, it’s just harder to see. This green color can be extremely hard to remove, particularly from blond and dyed hair since the copper binds like hair dye to the hair. It will fade with time but not quick enough for most people.

To ensure you don’t get angry, and nobody will like you when you get angry, make sure the pH in your pool stays between 7.2-7.8, with 7.5 being perfect. Testing your pH on a regular basis and adjusting your chemicals to keep the readings in the proper range is essential. That way, the copper in the heating coils will stay in the heating coils, and not end up on you or anyone using your pool!

A swimming pool is a fantastic spot for not only fun but getting in shape as well. In addition to a swimming pool providing your family with a backyard oasis in which to cool off on a hot summer day, it is also a great spot for adding to your workout routine and giving your body a break from on-land exercises. Swimming workouts do double duty by offering a way to get in shape by using the waters’ resistance to enhance the workout while not putting undue pressure and stress on your joints.

When the sun is beating down, working out in the water also keeps your body temperature regulated. Face it, when summer is at its peak, it’s hard to muster the energy to undertake a workout in the heat and/or humidity, right? When you take a water aerobics class – whether in a group setting or in the comfort of your own backyard – you can get a good workout in 30 minutes. Water resistance offers a way to build muscle strength and flexibility and working out in the water help you build a healthy heart and lungs.

Other benefits to working out in the water include:

You can build muscle strength more quickly. Because of the resistance of the water as compared to working out on land – water aerobics helps your muscles work more effectively than your regular aerobics workout. Many people see results more quickly as the result of a water workout.

Minimal strain on your joints. When you run, walk or are involved in weight training, they are beneficial for your body and overall health but these exercises are hard on your joints. Because water supports up to 80% of your body weight, you face les of a chance of injuring your joints than an on land workout. Water aerobics are a great way for senior citizens and those recovering from injuries to get healthy.

Regardless of the weather, a water exercise routine keeps your body temperature regulated. Exercising in a swimming pool keeps your body temperature constant when the weather is hot and/or humid.

Build heart health and strength in the water. Putting your all into a water aerobics exercise routine greatly helps strengthen your heart.

Powerhouse calorie burning. When you exercise in the water you can burn between 450-700 calories per hour – it is difficult to burn that many while in an on land workout.

If you are suffering from back pain, you would not be able to do everything that you want to do. Your actions will be limited because you wouldn’t want your condition to become worse. So to get your life back, you have to find a wonderful and effective way to gradually get rid of this problem.

There are people who regularly get massage therapy from professional massage therapists to alleviate the pain which is really a good idea. There are certain massage techniques that are good for people who suffer from back pain – techniques that would help remove stress and tension from the back.

Aside from massage therapy, there are also people who consider the idea of exercising regularly. There are exercise systems that are also intended for people who tend to have back pain like Pilates or yoga. And of course, there are some who basically rely on their medications. You can actually choose among these options to somehow get rid of back pain but if you want to try something different, you can engage into a particular sport that is ideal for your condition.

Swimming is a sport and also a form of exercise that is good for people who are suffering from common forms of back pain. When you engage yourself in swimming, you are like having a cardiovascular workout. If you hesitate about this option because you think that it may just increase the amount of pain, then you might want to think again.

Because you will be in the water when you are swimming, the pressure from your spine/back will be taken off. You will feel that it seems like you are only carrying a much lighter load and this means relief. In addition, swimming improves the circulation of blood and oxygen inside your body – particularly on the affected area. Swimming can also strengthen your core muscles which is necessary to provide a complete support for your back. It is actually good for your entire body, not just for your back.

But before you go on swimming, you have to discuss this first with your doctor. And if he/she agrees that swimming if ideal for your condition, then you bring someone with you. Never go swimming alone because you will never know what may happen while you are in the water. Someone should always be with you or if no one is available, make sure that there is a supervising lifeguard.

Do not swim if you have taken some medicines or if you have just eaten. It is also better if you only swim in not so deep water – make sure that you will be able to stand in case something unexpected happens. You can swim in the beach or in pool, whichever you prefer. But of course, if your house is just near a beach, it is definitely better if your swim into an ocean. Through swimming, you can really enjoy while relieving your back pain.

Swimming is an effective form of exercising and can be enjoyed by all. It’s a skill that many acquire from young age and continue to practice it even in the later stage of life. Swimming is a recreational activity and a competitive sport too. Many swim for fitness purpose, pursue it as a hobby or master the skill to an extent to become a swimmer. Swim workouts for kids, can make this activity challenging, fun and interesting. So, jump into the pool and learn some better ways of swimming.

Learning the Basics of Swimming

Some kids love splashing and playing in the water while some hesitate to get into water. No matter what the reason might be to learn swimming, kids take time to get used to the pool, its depth and the water temperature. Introducing some basic swimming workouts can help children getting warmed to learn the different swim styles and their body adapts to the water temperature. Teach them basic techniques of breathing underwater, floating and some hands and legs strokes. When the children are learning the basic strokes, turn the session interesting by asking them to kick a ball as far as possible. Make the children stand in horizontal line and hand them different colored balls to each child. Allow them to take the support of the edge of the pool and once you blow the whistle ask them to kick the ball as far as possible. This workout can strengthen the leg muscles and slowly increase their stroking speed.

Step 1
Once the kids get used to the water and have learned basic techniques of breathing, encourage them to move away from the edge of the pool. Allow them to use floaters and some of them might not have gained enough confidence. Though the children have learned basic leg strokes, it is now time to train them to attain the right body posture while swimming. Provide the little swimmers with a flat floating board and ask to stroke their legs as fast as possible. This will train them to float well on water and gain more confidence to swim.

Step 2
After acquiring the right posture and balance, teach some of the basic hand strokes to the children. Let the them be in a standing position and ask them to move the hands in circular motions. This will strengthen the shoulders and also train the muscles.

Step 3
The pool is build in two parts, Shallow and Deep. Once the children get acquainted with the pool, encourage them to swim in the deeper section of the pool. This way all the fear and hesitation will be overtaken by confidence.

Fun Swim Workouts for Kids

After learning some of the basic ways of swimming, introduce some more activities to add variety. Coming up with some innovative workout sessions can make swimming interesting and enjoyable for children.

Kicking
Kicking is a good workout for kids. It helps to improve the posture for swimming styles such as freestyle, butterfly and backstroke. Children enjoy splashing of water and kicking in water gives them that pleasure. This exercise is easy and enjoyable. Ask the children to hold the edge of the pool and lie on their back. Give them time to get into a straight posture. Blow a whistle and ask them to begin stroking the legs as hard and fast as possible. After sometime ask them lie on their stomach and follow the same procedure for kicking. Once the children have gained enough stamina, make the workout more challenging by timing their leg strokes per minute.

Touching the Pool Floor
This is an interesting swimming activity that children might just find fun to do. Let the kid be in a standing position. Ask them to take a deep breath and go underwater and touch the floor. Sometimes the task might turn difficult and children might show disinterest. In this case, keep an object underwater, and make them retrieve it. This might seem more challenging and children will totally enjoy this task.

Race
Conduct race for different swim styles. This will teach the kids to stay in their lane and even prepare them for swimming competitions. Keeping a healthy racing competition, boosts the confidence of the children and even increases their stamina. They also begin to develop their own techniques of winning.

These swim workouts for kids could make swimming easier and enjoyable for them. So, borrow them and let the fun begin!

Pool filter cleaning is necessary for all pools. Without a quality pool filter, a pool will become full of algae, grime and muck over time. Pool filters make for a clean swimming experience. Filters still require cleaning but the process of cleaning them can be dangerous. Most filters come with warnings about cleaning them that must be followed. It’s a good idea for pool owners to hire a pool cleaner to take care of pool filter cleaning among other duties.

Pool filters are an essential aspect to operating any pool as they take care of the heavy duty cleaning a pool constantly requires. No matter how many times a pool is skimmed in a day things like debris, leaves, dirt and dust will still find their way into the pool. When a pool becomes clouded with dirt and debris it will eventually begin to form algae. Dangerous pathogens are hosted in algae and after they have spread in a pool it is no longer safe to swim. A pool filter is going to help ensure this doesn’t happen.

The filter in your pool works by pumping water in and out of a filtration system. The water cycles through a filter and comes out clean and the debris, dirt and other muck gets trapped inside. This makes for a clean pool idea for swimming. Water is filtered many times during a day meaning that a filter can get quite dirty fairly often. Once a pool filter is dirty it may not operate at an ideal level. This once again leaves the pool open to those dangerous pathogens that the CDC warns cause dangerous diseases. The CDC has stated that one in eight pools houses these dangerous pathogens and is unsafe for swimmers. That is why it is recommend that pool owners participate in pool filter cleaning at regular intervals when they are operating their pools.

However, some filters can be dangerous to clean which is why pool filter cleaning is best left up to the professionals. It is warned that pool filtration system can be dangerous due to their electrical output. Professionals are skilled at shutting off circuit breakers and bleeding the system before beginning work on cleaning these filters. There are other factors that make filter cleaning dangerous such as leaks and cracks. If there is a leak in the filter, this could cause an actual explosion which can result in serious injury. A professional pool cleaner is aware of these risks and understands the steps needed to be taken in order to avoid such a disaster.

Pool filter cleaning can also be quite messy. A professional pool cleaner is going to take steps to avoid making a mess in a pool owner’s yard or back into the pool itself. Everything that has been filtered out of the pool is going to be inside this filter and that means quite a lot of dirt, debris, brown water and who knows what else. A professional pool cleaner has the equipment to filter out all this gunk into a waste area, usually a grate on the street. Sometimes pools are set too far back from the road to make this a possibility. In that case a professional will take steps to make sure that the resulting mess does not end up in a pool owner’s landscaping or anywhere else that will cause a problem. They will always be sure to discuss this issue with the homeowner before choosing a place to dump waste.

There are complicated valves and settings on all filters and no two filters are exactly the same. They each require a special way to shut them off and clean them out. A professional pool cleaner has a keen understanding of all pool filters. And when faced with one they haven’t used before they will do the research to make sure that it is properly cleaned. Pool filter cleaning requires that the multiport valve be set to filter before adding the cleaning solution. If a laymen attempts to clean a filter they may find that they missed a valve setting which is going to result in a jam and possibly a grid explosion which will be very, very expensive to replace. In order to avoid this disaster and others it is highly recommended that pool owners stick to the professionals when it comes to cleaning their filters.

Pool filter cleaning can be very complicated if the operator is not a trained professional. There are professionals in every city and town across the country who are able to do this difficult job. Pool filters may be dangerous but it is necessary that they have regular cleaning and maintenance to ensure a pool stays clean. Otherwise, a pool may become clouded and eventually find itself home to many dangerous pathogens. For a quality swimming experience make sure to seek out a pool cleaning professional for all pool filter cleaning.

I am not sure how many students there are now suffering from their all kinds of papers that due before the new semester, but I am definitely one of them.

And honestly, I do not like it at all. I have spent a whole semester doing all those stupid writings, why I still have to when the beautiful summer comes? I want to go beaches with my parents and my friends, meeting new people.

Well, only if I finish my paper ASAP!

Sometimes I was thinking if there is some kind of company providing services like term papers for sale. That is you place orders telling them you need this and you need that, and them do all the writing. In return, they ask for an affordable price. Of course, it has be free of plagiarism and quality guaranteed.

WOW, I would love that! But never let others know that you are taking advantage of this service.

I was joking!

Families who have swimming pools know that before they can teach their children to swim, they have to first get them comfortable in the swimming pool. It takes patience and perseverance to get your child comfortable in the water and the parent has to offer loving support while doing this. The rewards of patience pay off in the long run when you and your children will be able to spend hours of fun in the swimming pool.

You may have to spend several hours, days or even weeks, getting your child comfortable in the water. You may need to slowly ease them in and get them comfortable in the water. One of the best ways to do this is to simply hug your child and walk into the shallow end of the water with him. If you’re holding on to him and easing him into the water he will feel safer. Jump up and down a bit in the water, splashing your hands so your child will associate water with fun. Once he is comfortable with that, hold him under his arms and walk around the water, letting his legs float free.

After your child has become comfortable with this, take her to the side of the pool and teach her to blow bubbles. What you’re really trying to do is get her comfortable with putting her face in the water. She will likely gasp for air at first as she gets accustomed to the water in her face but with patience you should be able to bob up and down in the water with your baby in your arms and she will be able to go underwater with you.

Following the bubble blowing and underwater bobbing, you can move your child to jumping into the water by himself. Take him over to the side of the pool, stand a few feet away and hold your arms out to him and let him jump to you. Naturally, you will want to catch him so he doesn’t get afraid of the water but eventually he will want to jump to you and doggy paddle toward you.

Remember to take time with each of these steps. Don’t scare your child or it could take months or sometimes years to undo the damage that fear may have caused. While you may want to rush the getting comfortable in the water steps, it won’t do anyone any good. Plan to spend several weeks getting your baby comfortable in your above ground swimming pool. Even after your child has become comfortable in the water, you should never leave him alone and you should keep a life jacket on hand for the times when your child just wants to float and frolic in the water.

One piece swimsuits for women started off with covering most of the torso of women with the length reaching up to mid thighs. This design was deemed appropriate to be worn out in public before but as the years progressed, the designs started to change with the length and cut turning from modest to a bit sexier than before but still cover enough skin compared to bikinis that leave nothing to the imagination.

Modern designs for one piece bathing suits still stick to the usual design but with a more revealing cut that leaves a bit of skin exposed here and there. Wrap arounds, monokinis, and even cut-offs are among the sexier looking modern day one piece bathing suits for women that are being sold today that may be simple or bold in design and colors as well.

Your summer wear wouldn’t be complete without their accessories such as swim skirts, goggles and of course swim caps. Swim caps are often used by professional swimmers and even those who want to keep their hair out of the sun or provide some warmth when they go swimming in open waters. There are some resorts that require their guests to wear caps to keep hair from clogging their drains and filters even.

These caps are made from different materials such as silicone, latex and lycra and often come in a profusion of colors and styles. You can buy this swimwear accessory in shops near you or you can place your order online if you wish. Either way, investing on one is a good idea if you want to take your swimming into a higher level.

With so many shops selling various one piece swimsuits for women, it may be tough to get your hands on the best one for you. Of course, one particular factor that can stop you is their price. Some swimwear may be a bit expensive so if you are looking for something that is appropriate for the budget you are in, you might want to drop by online shops that have one piece swimwear up for grabs. Most of them are offering better selections than those that you see in retail outlets near you and their prices are far competitive as well.

When it comes to finding the best summer outfit there is, choosing one piece swimsuits for women is probably one of the best choices you can make.
